February is I Love to Read Month and it is a great time to encourage young people to read more.  And maybe a great time for you to read more, too!

Not sure how you can celebrate I Love to Read Month?  Here’s some ideas:

  • Take back your overdue books to the library – it’s fine free month.  If you take back your overdue books you’ll get forfeit the fine so that you can take out more books!
  • Read a genre you’ve never read before.  How about science fiction, historical books, or a crime novel?
  • Read a book and learn how to do something.  The Northwest Regional Library and the Benito Library have lots of books on how to topics.
  • Read in a new format.  If you don’t have an ereader you can still read books from Kindle and Kobo.  Download Kindle readers for your computer or tablet or iPhone and download Kobo readers.  You can even get FREE books to read on Kindle or on Kobo.
  • Take your kids to story time at the Northwest Regional Library – it’s free!
  • Borrow a book from the free online library at EBSCO (User ID: s7071953 Password:password) or the Manitoba eLibraries.
  • Share your love of reading by submitting a book review or a top 10 (or 5 or 7 – any number above 3 really) book list in a specific genre (think, top 5 fantasy novels for young adults) to me and I’ll publish them here with your name (if you want) and you can share it with your friends.  Click the contact button to the right to submit.
